Xandros Extends "Enterprise Linux Challenge" Through September 30

Free Trial Version of v3.0 for Questionnaire Respondents Attracts Overwhelming Response

"I see the response to our Enterprise Linux Challenge as yet another sign that the Linux desktop is poised for mainstream adoption," said Andreas Typaldos, CEO of Xandros, as he last week announced that due to overwhelming response, the program "Enterprise Linux Challenge" will be extended through September 30, 2005.

To date over 1,000 companies have signed up to qualify for a free copy of the Xandros replacement for Windows business desktops, Typaldos said. 

"This is a clear sign of enterprises being ready for Linux, surpassing even Xandros' own expectations," he added. 

Challenge participants download a free trial of the new Version 3 of the Xandros Business Desktop Operating System (OS), which provides seamless compatibility with the latest Windows servers, including domain authentication support, logon scripts, and group policy profiles. Participants who fill in a detailed questionnaire to help Xandros identify future enterprise needs will be rewarded with a fully licensed boxed copy of the Xandros Business Desktop OS.

"On the network side the [Xandros Business Desktop] really shines when playing with our Microsoft Windows network," said Michael Charissis, Systems Engineer with a S&P 100 company. "It plays well with the DHCP and winds up correctly registered in DNS. The integration with Active Directory saves time on the hassles of printing via the corporate print servers."

"The installation was really a no-brainer. Xandros did all the work," said Don Bosman, Information Technologist at Michigan State University. "Business Edition 3.0 picked up and correctly configured for printing, the nearest Canon Image Runner 3320 multifunction machine. We have many in the building. I was amazed to have access to the finishing features, since NO Linux distro ever auto-detected the Canon machines. Xandros has another winner."
