Open Source Gets All Googly; Google Invests $350K in University OSS Program

The "Importance of Open Source Can't Be Overstated," Says Google's Chris DiBona

'Google's support will strengthen the leadership role of our universities in fostering the next generation of open source technologies, projects and experts in Oregon,' said Oregon state governor, Ted Kulongoski, as Google announced its injection of $350,000 to create a joint program by Oregon State University and Portland State University to develop more open source computer technology.

The program is due to start up in early 2006, according to Google's open source program manager Chris DiBona (pictured).
