Global Thin Client Supplier VXL Announces New Laptop Collaboration with Lenovo with the Launch of Two Thin ‘Thinkpad’ Laptops

VXL Instruments announces two new virtualisation-ready laptop thin clients in conjunction with major laptop manufacturer Lenovo. The 14.1” TL412 comes with a market-leading three year warranty as standard, while the entry level 11.6” TL100 features a one year warranty that’s upgradeable to three years.

Competitively priced in line with VXL’s commitment to offer the best value in thin client, the two new VXL-Lenovo co-branded, Thin ‘ThinkPad’ laptops are available now.

Arun Kumar Bhuwania, VXL’s Chairman commented, “This new collaboration will maximise benefits for the end user, allowing us to deliver a great choice of leading-edge products with high speed processors, a comprehensive manufacturer’s warranty and extensive accessories”. “The laptop business is really taking off as users recognise the value and security of truly mobile thin client computing,” added Bhuwania.

As one of the first thin client manufacturers to produce a thin client laptop, VXL has a wealth of experience regarding the integration of thin client laptops into a wide variety of IT end user environments. “This experience is now further strengthened with the Lenovo relationship and launch of the new VXL / Lenovo Thin ‘ThinkPad’ co-branded models,” commented Bhuwania.

The flagship 14.1” widescreen TL412 model boasts a 1 GB RAM and 1GB Flash as standard, Express PC Card Expansion slot and 1.86Ghz Intel Celeron Dual Core processor. The equally impressive 11.6” widescreen, TL100, also incorporates 1 GB RAM and 1GB Flash as standard, plus 4 in 1 PC Card slot and 1.6 GHz AMD Athlon Neo processor.

Additionally the models are available with a choice of Microsoft Windows XPe and Windows Embedded (WES) operating systems, with Linux available in the next quarter, and also incorporate VXL’s latest remote management software, XLmanage Workgroup Edition, as standard.

“Industry analysts forecast that the current growth in thin client laptops will continue as a result of the lower purchase and running costs, ease of management and greater security,” said Bhuwania.

“By expanding the range and forming a new technology relationship with Lenovo, we are pushing the thin client boundaries, yet maintaining the VXL commitment to quality, low cost of ownership, choice and performance,” he added.
