Open-Xchange Groupware Improves Usability, Extends Social Networking

Open source Microsoft Exchange alternative delivers enhanced file sharing

Open-Xchange, a provider of business-class open source collaboration software, today announced numerous enhancements for sharing data by using Open-Xchange´s unique social networking features.

With the latest update, Open-Xchange provides users with more than 100 improvements for e-mail, calendar, address book, document and task management. In addition, the latest version adds new "Social OX" capabilities that simplify the aggregation of e-mail and contact information from external mail services and make it easy to share documents without sending large e-mail attachments.

New features of Open-Xchange 6.18 include:

  • Aggregation of e-mails and addresses from gmx.com, MSN/Hotmail and T-Online
  • Simplified document sharing using Open-Xchange "Publish and Subscribe"
  • Enhanced subscription of addresses from social networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn and XING
  • Improved handling of tags for appointments and contacts
  • Call History for VoIP calls
  • Usability and design improvements of calendar, tasks and permissions
  • Enhanced mobility support that gives users access to their data anywhere, anytime and with virtually any device
