"The combination of the Abiquo platform and IP developed in conjunction with our partners has enabled BlueFire to today provide a no compromise approach to give our customers complete flexibility to define their own environments – just like a physical datacenter, but without the need to maintain the infrastructure," said Jason Serda, MD & CIO of BlueFire, a leading hosting provider and Dimension Data Group company, as it was announced Wednesday that BlueFire and Abiquo have entered into a development and innovation partnership, integrating the Abiquo Enterprise Cloud Management platform with BlueFire’s own IP to enable its hosted compute infrastructure-as-a-service private cloud solution.
“We have extensively evaluated products from all the cloud management vendors over the last six months”, Serda continued, adding:
“Abiquo’s solution was the clear winner, providing superior capabilities particularly for our enterprise customers. For example, our clients will be able to automate the provisioning of virtual infrastructure available across six of our primary datacenter facilities, including compute, memory, networking, security and storage."
As he supervized final preparations for his company's participation in Cloud Expo Silicon Valley, of which Abiquo is a Platinum Sponsor, Abiquo CEO Pete Malcolm commented on how Abiquo's Enterprise Edition product is gaining significant market traction, particularly among enterprises and hosting providers.
"BlueFire selected Abiquo Enterprise Edition because of its unique combination of advanced functionality and usability," Malcolm noted, added that the widely acknowledged potential of the cloud management platform sector is leading to a raft of vendors attempting to rapidly adapt existing products or launching unsophisticated new ones, and then making overstated claims of their apparent success in order to lure customers.
“The Cloud Management market continues to suffer from over-hyped claims”, Malcolm explained. “Potential customers need to understand that claiming large numbers of downloads, proof of concept engagements, or installations of free software does not equate to proven technology or demonstrate real traction in the market”.
Abiquo's strength, Malcolm observed, is reflected by independent product comparisons carried out by potential customers. In such reviews, the strength of Abiquo Enterprise Edition - which Malcolm states offers the "superior functionality, scalability and performance demanded by sophisticated enterprises and hosting providers," consistently wins. Which is exactly what happened in the case of BlueFire.
All Abiquo Enterprise Edition licenses, Malcolm noted, include full technical support. He continued:
"At the Platinum level this provides 24x7x365 response anywhere in the World within a guaranteed 30 minutes, fully meeting the requirements of large scale installations supporting many thousands of users."
Abiquo has won numerous industry awards, including “Best Enterprise Software” at the independent Cloud Computing World Series awards in July 2010. It also heads the alphabetical list of The Top 250 Players in the Cloud Computing Ecosystem published by Cloud Computing Journal.
