The two have now released a $19.95 CD that collects a "best-of OSS," featuring Mozilla Firefox, the instant messaging client Gaim, GNU's GIMP graphics and photo manipulation software, TurboCash, and OpenOffice.org (which includes the Writer, Spreadsheet, Impress, Base, Draw, and Math applications).

RaptorHead began as a hobby for each of the co-founders before they met. Separately, they have been avid users of open source software, one as a tinkerer, who installed his first Linux distro 10 years ago, and the other as an evangelist, sharing his vision that 'open source' is more than using Linux. In their separate realms they each appreciated the choices offered within the open-source community. They have joined their resources 'to help those around them find alternatives that are better, cheaper and more secure than the proprietary software they've used. Using their expertise to help friends find open source solutions has become a passion,' according to the company. |
