HP CEO Carly Fiorina from Amsterdam said HP's Linux sales were worth $2 billion a year. "HP ships more Linux than anyone else. We don't see competitors like Dell at all because of services and support that are needed," Fiorina sniffed, touting HP's Linux offering as the "most comprehensive" in the industry. It was assumed she meant HP's total sales of hardware, software and services related to Linux. If true, the number would be double the $1 billion IBM is claiming it sold in Linux-based software, hardware and services last year for all the hundreds of millions of dollars in juice it purportedly put behind the rascally operating system. The billion-dollar figure is reportedly double IBM's 2001 take. IBM says a lot of its Linux growth came at the expense of Sun, which also finds itself outgunned on the WebSphere-WebLogic front.
