SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/18/12 -- RainStor, a provider of big data management software, today announced it has joined the Hortonworks Technology Partner Program to offer big data analytics on Apache Hadoop and the Hortonworks Data Platform. Designed to accelerate enterprise adoption of Apache Hadoop, the Hortonworks Data Platform provides an open and stable foundation for enterprises and a growing ecosystem to build and deploy big data solutions. As an innovative leader in big data, RainStor will collaborate with Hortonworks, a leading contributor to Apache Hadoop projects, to provide faster analytics on multi-structured data, without the need to move data out of the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) environment.
"Today's enterprise is increasingly looking to Apache Hadoop as a platform to process and manage complex volumes of data for greater business insights," said Ramon Chen, VP Product Management at RainStor. "As RainStor takes to market a new product running native on Hadoop, RainStor will support the Hortonworks Data Platform with performant analytics at scale and without the need to move data out of the Hadoop environment. The Hortonworks team has tremendous knowledge and experience, and we very much look forward to working together, taking Hadoop data analytics to the enterprise."
"Apache Hadoop has quickly become known as the platform of choice for mining large amounts of multi-structured data to gain business insights previously unattainable," said Mitch Ferguson, vice president of business development at Hortonworks. "We are excited to partner with RainStor to speed analytics, simplify data management and lower operating costs for organizations deploying Hadoop solutions on the Hortonworks Data Platform."
RainStor delivers the first enterprise database running natively on Apache Hadoop. RainStor Big Data Analytics on Hadoop, announced today, brings added value to new and existing Hadoop deployments with proven database technology and enterprise-grade capabilities. Because RainStor provides the highest level of compression, data is reduced by up to 40x (97.5 percent) or more, compared to raw data, and requires no re-inflation when accessed. Faster analytics are achieved when this compression is combined with unique dynamic filtering at file, column and row level, resulting in higher productivity from the more efficient use of the Hadoop cluster. Compression, combined with enterprise database management features, reduces storage and cluster size, lowering operations costs significantly.
