Exacq Technologies is pleased to announce the immediate availability of exacqVision® edge™ to the exacqVision family of video management system (VMS) software used in video surveillance. The full featured exacqVision edge server software runs directly on an edge device, like an IP camera, without the need for an NVR or separate server.

exacqVision edge provides centralized user management and server monitoring. The software integrates with Active Directory and LDAP applications, as well as with other third party integrations including access control, POS/ATM, license plate recognition and video analytics. Live and recorded video from the camera is viewed and administrated using the freely distributed cross-platform (Windows/Linux/Mac) exacqVision client. The client also provides virtual matrix switching, multi-layer mapping, digital PTZ control and more. Recorded video can be stored on an on-board SD card or on a mapped network drive such as NAS storage, creating distributed points of failure for those installations that require extreme redundancy.

edge servers and their cameras are fully scalable with every exacqVision server making it perfect as a stand-alone distributed solution or part of a complete enterprise installation. exacqVision edge is an ideal way to add cameras to existing enterprise deployments in areas where adding another server may not be practical—this includes outdoor locations, restricted access locations, branch offices, remote monitoring or out-buildings where only one or two cameras are needed.

Many of these edge devices utilize processors based on the industry-standard MIPS® architecture from MIPS Technologies, Inc..

At launch, exacqVision edge software will be supported by a number of Axis Communications IP surveillance cameras running on the AXIS Camera Application Platform (ACAP).
