Permabit Technology Corporation, a recognized leader in data efficiency technology, today announced that Network Products Guide, the industry's leading technology research and advisory guide, has named the company a finalist in the 7th Annual 2012 Hot Companies and Best Products Awards for Innovative IT Company of the Year and Best Storage Solution for Albireo Virtual Data Optimization Software. These industry and peer awards from Network Products Guide are the world's premier information technology awards honoring achievements and recognitions in every facet of the IT industry. Winners will be honored in Las Vegas on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 during the 7th annual dinner and presentations.
Permabit introduced its flagship product, Albireo High Performance Data Optimization Software, in June of 2010 as the industry’s first OEM embedded primary data optimization software. Albireo is a portable software library that massively improves performance and efficiency of data creation, transmission and storage.
In August, Enterprise Strategy Group’s (ESG) Lab validated record breaking performance rates and scalability for Albireo, reaching industry leading performance of over 400 GB/sec and scaling to over 20 PB. Recognizing the need for open source Linux storage OEMs such as value oriented NAS providers and enterprise flash/SSD providers, Permabit launched Albireo Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO) in March. This allows Linux OEMs the ability to rapidly incorporate powerful data optimization technology and deliver competitive cost efficient storage solutions. The innovation behind Albireo VDO secured its spot as finalist in the NPG awards. In September, Permabit expanded the Albireo SDK API enabling “Dedupe Everywhere.” This latest evolution of Albireo enables data to be deduped across the enterprise IT stack, throughout all storage tiers, and across networks, in Solid State Devices, SOHO/SMB storage and Cloud deployments which results in a increased efficiency and ROI for OEM partners and their customers.
“Innovation is the driving force behind Permabit. Albireo deduplication might be the highest impact technology in IT today - driving down IT costs and driving up storage performance by 10, 20 and even 30x” says Tom Cook, CEO and President of Permabit. “Being recognized by leading and respected OEM partners and influences, such as Network Products Guide, highlights Permabit’s commitment to creating value for our customers through innovation.”
