Today at the Magento Imagine eCommerce 2012 conference, Magento, a leading eCommerce platform provider and division of X.commerce, Inc., an eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) company, announced that it worked with AOE media, a Magento partner system integrator, to successfully meet the commerce needs of Rovio Entertainment Ltd., creators of the popular Angry Birds game. The implementation highlights will be discussed later today in AOE media’s session, “Deployment Pipeline for Magento Enterprise in the Cloud.”
Due to Angry Birds’ popularity and high demand, AOE media implemented Magento Enterprise to host and scale in order to accommodate its growing user volume.
“Since the inception of Angry Birds, our brand’s explosive growth has led to more than 700 million downloads as of February. To help us, we approached Magento and AOE media for a solution to effectively handle the increase in demand of our webshop,” said Niklas Kari, business development director, Rovio. “We are pleased with the variety of tools available on the platform that have allowed us to create a unique and seamless shopping experience for our customers. Having the option to plug and play other capabilities gave us exactly the flexibility we were looking for.”
The flexibility of Magento’s platform allowed Rovio to create a fully-scalable solution to address its business needs. Hosting Magento on the Cloud is yet another advantage of Magento’s platform, which enables Rovio to automatically scale to handle several thousand requests per second.
Additionally, Magento’s platform allows for integration with the Shipwire extension, giving Rovio fulfillment services to manage global warehouses automatically, resulting in shipping and cost optimization and an increase in global inventory availability.
“We created Magento as a platform specifically to support merchant needs like those of Rovio. We take pride in our powerful and flexible technology and believe that collaborating and partnering with other services and capabilities provides an enhanced customer experience,” said Roy Rubin, general manager of Magento and chief product and customer officer of X.commerce.
“We are very excited about the achievements we have made with our auto-scaling infrastructure. This now allows us to serve other clients with unmatched cost-effective scaling solutions for high-traffic Magento platforms. The openness of the Magento platform also allows us to partner with other companies that offer capabilities most beneficial to our customers,” said Kian T. Gould, chief executive officer, AOE media. “We are pleased that we were able to meet all the requirements needed by Rovio to attain a flexible webshop with high-performing, flexible Web hosting.”
