Convirture Updates Virtualization and Cloud Management Software

ConVirt Enterprise Cloud now manages clouds based on the latest version of OpenStack; CloudStack support announced

If you liked Convirture's enterprise management software or its free open source software, you're going to like it even more now.

Convirture has updated its ConVirt Enterprise Cloud virtualization and cloud management software to include support for the latest version of OpenStack (Essex). Support for CloudStack will be available in an update to the software that is planned for the third quarter of this year. ConVirt Enterprise Cloud also is also now certified to run on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

The company also released ConVirt 2.1 Open Source, an update to the free, open source version of its management software.

ConVirt Enterprise Cloud is used by enterprises worldwide to manage virtual and cloud infrastructures based on KVM and Xen. Today's announcement continues Convirture's drive to provide the easiest and most cost-effective means of managing virtual and cloud-based datacenters based on open source hypervisors.

The company aims to be the Switzerland in the cloud wars -- rising above the fray. Listen to company CEO, Arsalan Farooq: "Open source-based clouds are proliferating and we believe that most IT managers will adapt a hybrid, heterogeneous approach, with multiple platforms in their datacenter. To that end, we are Switzerland in the cloud wars. Our customers just want to meet an IT need and ConVirt is the tool that will enable them to manage the increasingly complex world of cloud platforms."

In addition to OpenStack Essex and CloudStack, ConVirt can be used to manage OpenStack 1.0, as well as Amazon EC2 and Eucalyptus.

A complete list of all the virtualization and cloud platforms that can be managed using ConVirt can be found at: www.convirture.com/support_configurations.php.
