8 May 2012, Reading, UK - Adax (www.adax.com), an industry leader in high-performance packet-processing, security and network infrastructure, today announced that its Application Ready Platform has been chosen by Torres Networks (www.torresnetworks.com), an innovative Policy Control, Network Intelligence and Mobile Data Offload solutions provider, for its Mobile Data Offload Gateway. As mobile data traffic growth continues to rise exponentially, this product provides service providers with a highly scalable, cost saving solution to reduce the burden on the packet core.
Adax have provided Torres with an Application Ready Platform consisting of Adax PacketRunner (APR) intelligent ATCA blades, PacketAMC boards and industry leading Ethernet switch technology in a range of cost-effective and energy efficient multi-slot ATCA systems. These integrated systems are high-performance and cost-effective and provide a flexible and scalable solution that is ideal for applications such as Femto Gateways, LTE-EPC nodes and Mobile Data Offload Gateways.
A major advantage with this solution is Adax QuickPort; a complete Linux development suite for the Cavium processor on the APR that makes the Adax platform truly Application Ready. QuickPort provides pre-built content and a development environment which enables the application developer to be up and running straightaway, reducing precious development time & costs.
The Torres Mobile Data Offload Gateway enables service providers to offload Internet bound traffic, bypassing the mobile packet core while only routing essential signaling packets into the core. This results in savings of up to 70 to 80% of the costs that are otherwise incurred in upgrading packet core infrastructure (GGSN, SGSN) to support high-volume mobile data traffic.
"We are delighted that Torres have chosen Adax as the platform for their Packet Core Offload applications after a rigorous and competitive evaluation process. Our support staff worked closely with Torres architects and developers throughout the evaluation period to ensure that the Adax products met their requirements. I am sure that the close working relationship we have developed during this period will continue to benefit Torres and its customers in the future," said Robin Kent, Director of European Operations at Adax.
"Adax has provided us carrier-grade hardware technology that is state of the art and that provides a robust, scalable platform for our cutting edge, standards compliant offload gateway for 3G and LTE networks. Their support, both before and after the sales process has been excellent," said Mukund Srigopal, Director of Business Development at Torres Networks.
