SmartBear Software today announced the promotion of Ole Lensmar to the newly created position of chief architect, where he will work closely with the company’s product teams to align SmartBear’s product line strategy with ongoing business, customer and technology needs.
Lensmar has been chief technology officer of SmartBear Sweden since July 2011 when SmartBear purchased eviware, the market leader in web service testing. Lensmar was cofounder and chief technology officer of eviware, where he created soapUI and loadUI, the leading tools for API testing and API load testing. Both products are available in Open Source and powerful Pro versions from SmartBear.
Lensmar reports to Ian McLeod, SmartBear’s executive vice president and chief product officer.
“Ole is a giant in the world of Web Services testing,” said McLeod. “He demonstrated his unique skills by developing the groundbreaking soapUI and loadUI tools. Since joining SmartBear last year, he has played a vital role in shaping our technology vision of a complete Quality Lifecycle offering. In his new, expanded role, he will work to ensure consistent and sound cross-product technology decisions that support our strategy.”
Lensmar cofounded eviware in 2006 to meet the market need for an Agile testing tool for Web Services that supported the modern SOA project. That tool, soapUI, quickly became the most-used Web Service testing tool in the world.
“I am passionate about software technologies,” said Lensmar, who will continue to lead the SmartBear Technology Board. “And SmartBear has a lot to be passionate about: rock-solid native desktop applications, industry-leading Open Source and cutting-edge Web-based solutions, all gathered under a Quality Lifecycle Management offering with enormous potential for growth. I look forward to working closely with Ian and the product teams to continue to meet our global customers’ evolving needs.”
Lensmar, currently based in Sweden, will move to SmartBear headquarters in the United States in 2013.
