SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/07/12 -- Joyent, the high-performance cloud infrastructure company, today appointed Henry Wasik as chief executive officer. Under Henry's leadership, Joyent seeks to accelerate its growth in the large and rapidly growing cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) market that will surpass $24 billion by 2016, according to Gartner.
Henry brings more than 20 years of senior leadership experience to Joyent. Most recently, he served as the president and CEO of Force10 Networks, where he refocused the corporate revenue growth strategy, introduced multiple industry-leading products and drove critical new hires to the executive and management teams. After joining the company in 2004, Henry grew Force10 revenue tenfold to $200 million.
"Joyent has developed an innovative and highly differentiated cloud infrastructure designed to meet the new requirements of today's burgeoning web and mobile applications," said Henry Wasik, CEO, Joyent. "This is a cloud infrastructure provider that, early on, decided to invest in performance and reliability first -- and it shows. From exciting upstarts like ModCloth and Voxer to the world's leading cloud services providers, like Telefonica, Joyent has nurtured an enthusiastic customer base. IaaS, a $6.2 billion market today with a projected compound annual growth rate growth of 41.7 percent from 2012 through 2016, is the fastest-growing segment of public cloud services. Joyent is well positioned to capitalize on that dynamic growth, building on a foundation of innovative technology, a great team and fast-growing customers."
The news of Henry's appointment coincides with the launch of Joyent7, the first fabric-based cloud infrastructure platform, specifically designed to support the increasingly data-intensive, device-based needs of enterprises and cloud services providers.
"Across the board, Henry is a great match for Joyent. He's in lockstep with our vision for a new economy of datacenters and cloud services," said Jason Hoffman, Founder and CTO, Joyent. "We've spent years building the best technology for real-time applications and are ready to serve a broader audience. Henry's leadership and expertise will lead Joyent into our next phase of rapid growth."
