Feedzai is a Portugal-based startup that provides a real-time application to help financial institutions prevent fraud before it occurs. "When dealing with this kind of critical real-time problem, SAP HANA was able to offer us performance and enterprise-grade reliability we simply could not get from open source solutions like Cassandra," said Nuno Sebastiao, CEO, Feedzai.
UK-based Warwick Analytics offers root cause analysis and early warning systems for defects in complex high-value manufacturing industries. "As an early stage university spinoff, time to market is key," said Dan Somers, CEO of Warwick Analytics. "It is refreshing to find a company the size of SAP working like a startup to help us go from concept to product in ten short weeks."
Fan Appz, a startup based in the U.S., offers a social media marketing solution that helps businesses acquire new customers and grow existing relationships with personalization. "Not only was SAP HANA the right platform for one-on-one marketing, the flexibility and affordability of SAP HANA One on AWS makes it a no-brainer for cash conscious startups," said Jon Siegal, CEO, Fan Appz.
Since the launch of the SAP Startup Focus program six months ago, more than 800 startups from 17 countries were evaluated and 153 were selected for participation. More than 60 percent of the startups are from non-traditional markets. These include businesses such as Better Food, which provides sustainable and safe food management services across the value chain, Mobilistic Innovative Business Solutions, which predicts epidemics by aggregating data from thousands of pharmacies and Alacris Theranostics, for the development of personalized drug therapies of cancer patients based on individual cancer genome profiles.
The SAP Startup Focus program is a development and growth accelerator that provides an integrated approach for startups to innovate on the SAP HANA platform. This end-to-end program offers a variety of resources for young companies including technology, training, technical advice and valuable go-to-market support. Startups can apply for the program at www.startups.saphana.com.
"Having been an entrepreneur and founder of a startup, I believe that a true platform must serve, and benefit from, the imagination and passion that these startups bring," said Dr. Vishal Sikka, member of the SAP Executive Board, Technology and Innovation. "The revolutionary platform ability of SAP HANA, combined with the SAP Startup Focus program's steadfast dedication to openness and co-innovation and SAP's massive reach are helping to bring this vast pool of imagination to market fast."
