Elasticsearch, a leader in big data search and analytics, today announced that Elyse Phillips has joined the company as vice president of marketing. With more than 15 years of technology marketing for high tech start-ups in markets including open source and mobile development, Elyse will drive global marketing strategy and execution for Elasticsearch, which has quickly emerged as among the fastest growing open source big data search technologies in the world.
Elyse has spent her career rapidly evolving innovative technologies and services into market game changers. Prior to Elasticsearch, Elyse was director of marketing at Appcelerator, the leading mobile development platform provider, where she launched Titanium, the number one open source mobile development platform in the world, and helped build a community of 350,000 mobile developers worldwide. Prior to Appcelerator, Phillips was the head of marketing and investor relations for First Virtual Corporation, a pioneer in Internet video, where she took them from start-up through IPO.
“Elyse has an amazing track record of developing ideal market positioning and rapidly increasing visibility that drives exponential growth for companies,” said Steven Schuurman, CEO of Elasticsearch. “She will play a critical role at Elasticsearch in defining and communicating how we define what is possible with big data search and analytics.”
“Elasticsearch is a marketer’s dream. With more than 1.5 million downloads and a proven management team, we have tremendous momentum to build upon,” said Phillips. “By delivering a user-friendly product that can search and extract information from billions of documents and events in real-time, Elasticsearch is ideally positioned to turn big data into big information and big meaning.”
Last month, Elasticsearch secured $10 million in Series A funding from Benchmark Capital, Rod Johnson, the creator of Spring Framework and former CEO of SpringSource, and Data Collective. Elyse will be located in the company’s Bay Area headquarters.
