JasperSoft, provider of open source business intelligence, announced the launch of JasperForge.org, an online site that provides free access to collaborative tools to build, deploy, and extend open source business intelligence (BI) software. JasperForge, located at http://www.jasperforge.org, also provides users with a central place to download BI software, learn configuration tips, and share BI deployment experiences with other people.
JasperForge.org provides developers with free access to a wide range of collaborative development tools including discussion forums, version control, wikis, a development dashboard, issue tracking, and automated project monitoring. IT managers can easily find and download open source BI software from a central location and read blogs from JasperSoft executives and other members of the open source BI community.
"Currently, there are more than 30 open source projects built around our reporting product, JasperReports, and dozen of companies with commercial applications or services built on the JasperSoft architecture," said Barry Klawans, CTO of JasperSoft. "With the rapid growth in development projects and exchange of technical ideas between projects, we decided to build JasperForge.org to bring everything together in one location."
Additional features of JasperForge.org include:
*Project portals where developers can manage development projects and search through files and documents;
*Customizable wiki framework and discussion forums;
*Version control with Subversion integration;
*Publishing system for open source software and documentation;
*Task manager with the ability to request actions such as feedback or contribution from other members in a team; Monitoring and automatic notification of changes to a project; and Real-time status statistics and reporting.
