SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Coverity, the leader in development testing, today announced that it has been named a leader in IDC's MarketScape: Software Quality Analysis and Measurement (SQAM), 2012-2013 Vendor Analysis – Leveraging Code Analysis to Drive Quality and Innovation (doc #237075, November 2012).
According to IDC, Coverity was named a leader in the MarketScape report because of the company's technical depth and focus on core, targeted areas of importance for users including static and dynamic analysis, software quality, software security and focused unit testing. The report commended Coverity's diverse product portfolio for development testing, stating, "These kinds of analysis capabilities are important at a time when organizations must increasingly understand the impact of code on performance and security with multimodal deployments on mobile, cloud and embedded systems ramping up."
Additionally, the report highlighted Coverity's strengths in embedded software, open source quality – via its Coverity Scan service – and relationships with core ALM providers, including HP and IBM. It also cited the company's considerable growth from 2010 to 2011, when it grew revenues by more than 25%, as further evidence of Coverity's strong market position.
"In the current technology and economic climate of increased challenges and complexity, businesses must understand and analyze software beyond the confines of traditional approaches, and recognize that quality and security are both pressing and closely related areas," said Melinda Ballou, Program Director of IDC's Application Life-Cycle Management and Executive Strategies service. "Relevant, high-quality, secure software drives business innovation success now more than ever."
"It's an honor to be recognized as a leader in the IDC MarketScape," said Jennifer Johnson, VP of Marketing at Coverity. "We are seeing the industry evolve as a growing number of companies rethink their legacy approaches to software testing to meet increasing business demands for rapid, secure and high-quality software delivery. Development testing drives competitive differentiation as it enables increased visibility and control over software development by integrating quality and security testing seamlessly into the development process."
The Coverity® Development Testing Platform enables software development organizations to unify quality and security testing with an integrated, developer-ready solution. The platform is built on the award-winning Coverity SAVE® Static Analysis Verification Engine, which applies multiple patented techniques for accurate issue detection.
