ForgeRock Inc., the pioneer of open source Identity and Access Management (IAM), announced today that Allan Foster, vice president of community, has been named to the IEEE-Industry Standards and Technology Organization Board of Directors. In this position, Foster, who was nominated to the board by a committee of program peers, will join seven other distinguished industry experts to help guide the future direction of the organization.
“I look forward to joining the IEEE-ISTO Board and working alongside some of the top minds in the industry to help the organization thrive and grow in the years to come,” said Foster. “Together we have the opportunity to further game changing industry and identity management standards that will have a lasting impact.”
Foster brings over 25 years of experience in the high-technology industry to the board, with expertise in Access Management, Federation, and Portal Architectures. Having served as a representative on various standards bodies, ranging from ANSI committees (Smalltalk, C++ and Forth), the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), Liberty Alliance Project, Kantara Initiative and Oasis, Forester will continue his work as an advocate for standards and interoperability as a member of the IEEE-ISTO Board of Directors.
Since joining ForgeRock in 2010, Foster has led the engineering team for OpenAM, the company’s access management and federation product. As VP of community, he is also responsible for driving all the community aspects of products, including interacting with Standards bodies and technical architecture discussions with customers.
Established in 1999, the IEEE-ISTO is a global not-for-profit organization designed to facilitate industry standards development and adoption activities for technology industry consortia. Board members serve two-year terms and oversee the organization’s financial operations while helping promote the benefits of industry and government organizations partnering with IEEE-ISTO.
