BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/05/13 -- Cloud Spectator, a leading independent cloud computing analyst firm that provides research and data on Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), today unveiled its cloud performance and stability report on Lunacloud. The report highlights Lunacloud's performance and stability through industry-standard open-source benchmark tests and measures the results against Amazon EC2 and Rackspace Cloud Servers (not OpenStack Cloud). After 30 days of analysis, the data showed Lunacloud outperformed Amazon and Rackspace consistently over the 30-day testing period.
Other key findings included:
- Lunacloud disk performance scored up to 8x better than Amazon or Rackspace disk performance.
- Lunacloud's internal network throughput is 2x faster than Rackspace's internal network throughput, and significantly more stable than Amazon within the 30-day testing period.
- Amazon Ec2's CPU performance scored higher over the period of 30 days compared to Lunacloud and Rackspace's CPU performance.
- Rackspace RAM performance was steady through the period of 30 days of testing, but Lunacloud's performance scored higher in test results.
"What we're seeing from much of our analyses on many different cloud services is that smaller cloud providers aren't necessarily worse from a performance angle," stated Kenny Li, co-founder and CEO of Cloud Spectator. "Lunacloud is a perfect example of a smaller player who can deliver great value. As companies become more educated on the various performance metrics and what ones are most important for their business, they will feel confident in partnering with service providers of all sizes."
