WavestoreUSA, a provider of professional digital video and audio recording solutions for surveillance applications, today announced the availability of the latest version of its open platform video management software platform. Wavestore V5 is an intuitive VMS solution that enables users to integrate 360-degree cameras into existing surveillance systems. A new licensing structure also streamlines the user experience and reduces upfront and long-term investment.
V5 facilitates the recording of original fisheye images captured by a 360-degree or hemispheric camera, and simultaneously displays the dewarped images alongside captured images from other cameras in a multi-image display. The original images captured by the 360-degree cameras are stored unaltered in the event video data must be presented in a court of law.
Based on Linux-based server design, V5 supports 360-degree and panoramic cameras from leading manufacturers, including AMGPanogenics, Axis, Geovision, MOBOTIX, Oncam Global and VIVOTEK. The addition of hemispheric camera support to V5 delivers significant cost savings to users, as one 360-degree camera can replace up to four traditional cameras and no moving parts leads to less maintenance. The system’s hybrid structure also supports analog, IP, megapixel, HD and thermal cameras from a wide variety of manufacturers.
V5 also offers digital PTZ controls, without the need for third-party SDK integration. With the use of a three-axis mouse, operators can manipulate a 360-degree image, such as overlapping the entire image into a panoramic view, define and save custom virtual views, and call up views as a virtual camera. The robust software platform also offers the ability to create unique video clips that dynamically track one or many individuals using the virtual PTZ function.
Additional features of V5 include instantaneous search and display of specific events within live and archived video data, authentication and encryption of video and audio content, and searchable metadata functionality for integrated video analytics, including facial recognition and people counting. The system can also integrate third-party POS data.
“A single 360-degree camera enables customers to save on infrastructure and security personnel, since it reduces the number of cameras required for a typical surveillance installation,” said Mario Popu, General Manager, WavestoreUSA. “It's not surprising that these devices are increasingly being specified for a variety of projects where there is a need to continuously monitor wide areas, such as those found in retail, critical infrastructure or manufacturing environments. Wavestore V5 makes it easy to incorporate 360-degree cameras into existing systems and new systems alike, which enables all users to reap the benefits of the technology.”
