Virtual Bridges today named software industry veteran Sam Cece as chief executive officer, bringing 20 years of executive management experience in enterprise software. Founder and former president and CEO Jim Curtin will become Virtual Bridges’ chief strategy officer responsible for strategy, vision and evangelism.
Cece is a proven technology leader with a strong track record of establishing operational excellence and creating shareholder value. As the CEO of StrongMail, he recruited and led a talented team of executives that guided the company's transformation from an innovative email infrastructure company to a full-service, top-tier provider of email marketing and social media solutions for Fortune 2000 companies, being one of only six companies to make the 2012 Forrester Wave Report. Prior to StrongMail, Cece held a number of senior management positions at BEA Systems pre-IPO, including President of the Global Services Division; Vice President and General Manager of BEA's WebXpress Division (WebLogic) and Vice President of Worldwide Marketing.
“Virtual Bridges is a standout among virtual desktop management providers, with an impressive roster of customers, partners and industry accolades from organizations such as Gartner, IDC, CRN, MIT and others,” said Cece. “I’m extremely excited about our opportunities ahead, and look forward to building on all of the great work Jim and his team have done to carry our mission forward.”
“VDI adoption is accelerating as more enterprises embrace the convenience of thin clients, laptops and mobile devices, and providing a consistent, cost-effective user experience across them,” said Chris Paccitti, general partner at Austin Ventures. “Sam understands what it means to bring innovative technologies to market in a rapidly changing climate. I look forward to working with him as he scales Virtual Bridges’ operations to meet the sophisticated needs of enterprise-class organizations.”
“Sam is the perfect candidate to lead Virtual Bridges into its next phase of growth,” said Curtin. “Sam brings a well-established track record along with tremendous energy and enthusiasm for building great companies, and I look forward to exciting times at Virtual Bridges under his leadership.”
Virtual Bridges announced strong results in 2012, including significant sales traction across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The company’s purpose-built desktop cloud and virtualization solutions saw significant demand from large enterprises, managed service providers and decentralized organizations including the NSA, DoD, Panasonic, Thales, Birmingham Metropolitan College, Chuo University, Mabuchi Motors and iFollowOffice. Key partners include IBM, Hitachi, CompuCom, Xerox, Raytheon, Dell, Vissensa, Great Wall and Neusoft.
Delivered on premises, via hosted service or managed service provider, Virtual Bridges reduces risks and provides a nimble, efficient approach to desktop management and provisioning with its unique Desktop Cloud Fabric™. The company’s flagship solution, VERDE, includes online, offline and cloud branch VDI, Gold Master provisioning, Storage Optimizer, a Distributed Connection brokering architecture, flexibility to run both Windows and Linux desktops, branch-level VDI at LAN speeds, support for on-premises and hosted deployment, and desktop portability on a USB stick.
