SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/20/13 -- Interface Masters Technologies, an industry leader and innovator in networking solutions, has announced two new families of multi-port 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit PCI-e Gen 3 server adapters based on Intel's controllers, with support for one or multiple Cavium Nitrox 16xx series SSL/IPSEC hardware acceleration chips. The 1G NIC family members support Intel 82580 Ethernet controller chips, while the 10G NIC family members support Intel 82599 Ethernet controller chips. The new server adapter (NIC) families include:
- Niagara 42064-S - Quad Port 1 Gigabit Copper Intel 82580 based, with a CN1620 chip
- Niagara 42064-2S - Quad Port 1 Gigabit Copper Intel 82580 based, with two CN1620 chips
- Niagara 42064-3S - Quad Port 1 Gigabit Copper Intel 82580 based, with three CN1620 chips
- Niagara 32711-S - Dual Port 10 Gigabit Fiber Intel 82599 based, with a CN1620 chip
- Niagara 32711-2S - Dual Port 10 Gigabit Fiber Intel 82599 based, with two CN1620 chips
- Niagara 32714L-S - Quad Port 10 Gigabit Fiber Intel 82599 based, with a CN1620 chip
- Niagara 32714L-2S - Quad Port 10 Gigabit Fiber Intel 82599 based, with two CN1620 chips
The new Niagara 42064-xx and 3271x-xx specialized network interface card families are designed to integrate with PCI-express (PCI-e) based Inline Networking Servers, including WAN Acceleration, UTM, SAN and NAS appliances, IPS Systems, and Security and Monitoring Appliances such as Firewalls, IDS systems, and Analysis Probes. The 1G server adapter family members, support standard RJ45 ports while the 10G server adapter family members support SFP and SFP+ pluggable modules for Multi-Mode (SR) and Single-Mode (LR).
The new Niagara 42064-xx Quad Port 1 Gigabit Copper NIC family members provide PCI-e Gen 3.0 (8 GT/s) support, low power operation, and intelligent queue support (including virtual machine data queues) optimized for multi-core processors. The Intel 82580 also offers VLAN tag insertion, stripping and packet filtering for up to 4096 VLAN tags, Transmit and receive IP, TCP and UDP checksum offloading capabilities and extensive power management features. In addition, the controller possesses specialized features including jumbo frame size of 9.5 KB, load balancing of network traffic flow, IPv6 Offloading, Receive Side Scaling (RSS), and Direct Cache Access. The Driver has broad OS support including Windows, Linux, Free BSD, VMware ESX, XEN and Hyper-V.
The Niagara 3271x-xx NIC family members provide PCI-e Gen 3.0 (8 GT/s). Intel's 82599 10GbE Controller supports low power 6.2W operation, and intelligent queue support optimized for multicore processors consisting of 128 Transmit (Tx) and Receive (Rx) Queues. The 82599 also offers Intel's Virtualization Technology for Connectivity (VT-c), which helps reduce I/O bottlenecks, boost throughput, and reduces latency. The Virtual Machine Device Queues improve performance by offloading the data-sorting burden from the virtual machine manager (VMM) to the network controller. The server adapter possesses specialized features including layer 2 & 3 security including IPSec & LinkSec, Intel® I/OAT Acceleration v3.0, VLAN Tagging, Stripping & Packet Filtering, Segmentation/offload, and SNMP/RMON statistic counters.
Cavium's highly regarded Cavium Nitrox 16xx security and hardware acceleration chip family provides SSL, IPSec, TCP/UDP/IP checksum offload and TCP segmentation on chip. The 16xx chip family enables 2.5Gbps (RC4+MD5) SSL throughput, 2.5Gbps (AES/3DES+SHA1) IPsec or CCMP wireless packet processing and up to 17k RSA 1024 bit exponent with CRT.
"We are proud to announce a full family of specialized 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit PCI-e NICs with hardware encryption acceleration to address high speed, high throughput networking and security demands," stated Ben Askarinam, founder and CEO of Interface Masters Technologies. "The Niagara 42064-xx and 3271x-xx families consist of high quality Intel-based Ethernet technology, state-of-the-art Cavium hardware encryption acceleration and Interface Masters' sterling design to achieve line-rate throughput, security offload and high port density at a market-leading price-performance."
Niagara 42064-xx and 3271x-xx families provide features that are essential in today's data centers:
- PCI-e Gen 3.0 (x4 for 1G family and x8 for 10G family)
- Handles Gigabit and 10G per second traffic load respectively
- Copper (RJ45) SFP, and SFP+ Multi Mode and Single Mode support
- Support for Cavium Nitrox security chip CN16xx family including CN1620, CN1610 and CN1605
- low power consumption
- RoHS Compliant and EMC, FCC Class A, UL (Safety) Certifiable
