Ulticom DSC Release 3.3 - Diameter Signaling. Solved.

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ -- (Marketwire) -- 02/25/13 -- Ulticom, the industry leader in Diameter signaling software solutions for Telecom OEMs, announces Release 3.3 of the Ulticom DSC -- a software product that optimizes Diameter Signaling in 4G and IMS networks.

The Ulticom Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) enables Service-Oriented Routing™ and multi-vendor interworking between network elements in support of:

  • Centralized Routing - Simplifying network management
  • Load Balancing - Optimizing Charging and Subscriber Data Management
  • Edge Routing - Diameter Edge Agent (DEA) facilitating LTE roaming
  • Policy Routing - Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) advancing Policy Management and Charging

Ulticom's unique Service-Oriented Routing capability goes beyond the typical primary/backup Diameter reliability strategy. The Ulticom DSC serves as a Diameter router and load balancer distributing Diameter signaling traffic across pools of servers. The server pools can be represented to external network elements as a single highly available logical entity -- in effect a Logical HSS, OCS, or PCRF. The Ulticom DSC distributes load across the server pools, provides application specific routing optimization, and dynamically compensates for congestion.

Release 3.3 extends the DSC product with additional advanced routing capabilities. It provides enhanced network routing resilience and even greater flexibility for multi-AVP-based routing. Release 3.3 also provides advanced White Labeling support. This feature empowers OEM customers to rebrand the DSC product and supporting documentation, tailoring it to their own product portfolio.

Ulticom's DSC is the industry's most powerful solution for Diameter routing. The Ulticom DSC is supplied as a Linux-based software product deployable on industry popular X86-64 hardware platforms. Ulticom has pushed performance to new levels with Release 3.3. Benchmarked on two HP 380 G8 systems, each running an Ulticom DSC Diameter routing instance, the DSC has been clocked at 864,000 sustained simple Diameter transactions per second (TPS) (equating to 1.8M messages per second or MPS). This same configuration, running the complex Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) functionality, sustains an impressive 580K TPS (1.1M MPS).

Ulticom's DSC provides a powerful, cost effective software solution leveraging Moore's Law for optimal hardware cost/performance over time. The Ulticom solution enables our OEM customers to select the hardware that best meets their particular needs. The Ulticom DSC is suitable for deployment as a Centralized Router, a Diameter Load Balancer, a Diameter Routing Agent (DRA), or a Diameter Edge Agent (DEA). DEA functionality supports LTE Roaming while DRA functionality provides advanced policy management signaling routing (IP-CAN Binding). The Ulticom Diameter SS7 Gateway (D7G) product provides the ability to interwork between Diameter and SS7 networks -- enabling 2G-3G-4G integration when working in combination with the Ulticom DSC.
