COSTA MESA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/04/13 -- Mirth Corporation, a global leader of health information technology, has been recognized by the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) and the Health Story Project as one of the nation's first vendors to successfully meet the Health Level Seven (HL7) Consolidated-CDA® (C-CDA) standard. The results of the tests were announced by IHE on February 27th. Dozens of leading vendors participated in the test held at the IHE North American Connectathon held last month in Chicago.
Mirth is one of only two vendors to pass all C-CDA tests, which are key to achieving Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements. Healthcare provider organizations meeting Meaningful Use requirements can earn substantial financial incentives. Offered as part of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services EHR Incentive Programs, Meaningful Use incentives are designed to promote adoption and use of health information technologies that help create a safer, more connected, and efficient healthcare system.
Recognized as the industry's only large-scale healthcare interoperability testing event, the IHE Connectathon provides a unique opportunity for connectivity testing by removing common integration barriers. During the weeklong event, Mirth Corporation collaborated with 17 participating vendors and exchanged information across 27 disparate healthcare systems.
"The IHE Connectathon brings together industry leaders, information technology experts and healthcare professionals all committed to collaborating toward the achievement of a robust, flexible, open, and national interoperability platform," said Jon Teichrow, President of Mirth Corporation. "Earning recognition as one of the first in the industry to pass all HL7 C-CDA tests is quite an honor, and demonstrates our longstanding commitment to leadership in the development of standards-based solutions that integrate healthcare information across a wide variety of systems."
The Mirth Suite of healthcare interoperability and Health Information Exchange (HIE) products successfully passed all 10 comprehensive tests during the Connectathon. Only one other vendor accomplished this feat during the inaugural test of C-CDA.
In addition to providing native support for C-CDA within the Mirth Suite of products, Mirth also separately licenses its C-CDA library to Electronic Health Record (EHR) vendors and Health Information Exchanges as part of its Mirth Connect Platinum Subscription.
