OpDemand, a next-generation cloud management platform, today announced support for deploying, monitoring and maintaining Heroku applications inside OpDemand’s management console. Software teams can now integrate Heroku into a larger cloud management strategy that provides centralized configuration management, monitoring and auditing of all changes to Heroku applications. This integration showcases OpDemand’s multi-cloud capabilities, including the unique ability to manage Platform-as-a-Service and Infrastructure-as-a-Service within a single management console.

Inside OpDemand, Heroku applications can consume a wide range of EC2-powered databases, caches and other backing services. This allows Heroku users to easily swap out expensive or inflexible add-ons for new custom add-ons built to exact specifications. Both the EC2 add-ons and the Heroku applications are then managed together, from a unified console, using OpDemand’s signature toolbar and orchestration technology.

Once Heroku applications are placed into an OpDemand environment, any changes are automatically detected and logged inside the event feed, providing IT managers with unparalleled visibility into the developer-centric world of Heroku. Developers can continue to use Heroku’s command-line tools, with OpDemand providing web-based access to application changes, status and configuration. OpDemand can also be used to scale Heroku “dynos”, modify environment variables, track process states and more.
