As additional proof of this approach, PostPath demonstrated email server replication and hot failover using – DRBD and Linux-HA – two open-source technologies that are built into Linux. The open-system nature of the PostPath Server allowed the implementation of high availability without expensive proprietary technologies. DEMO attendees saw an unmodified Outlook desktop connected to a PostPath server continue working without disruption after power-off of the primary PostPath Server initiated hot failover to a standby server machine.
