The Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau Gears Up to Offer First Class Hospitality During World Series

DETROIT, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- As the Detroit Tigers prepare for Game 1 of the World Series taking place on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Comerica Park, the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau and Detroit Metro Sports Commission are preparing a big Detroit welcome for visitors and locals alike.

"The Detroit hospitality experience begins as soon as visitors arrive at Metro Airport and that welcoming spirit will spread throughout the city and through the streets of downtown Detroit, for both visitors and local baseball fans," said Larry Alexander, Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau President & CEO.

Out-of-town guests flying into Metro Airport will get a warm Detroit welcome as soon as they walk off the plane with banners at the airport and posters at restaurants in downtown Detroit. Pole banners welcoming visitors will line both Woodward and Jefferson avenues.

The Detroit Metro Sports Commission is coordinating volunteers for the World Series who will wear distinctive Detroit Tigers orange fleece vests and be stationed at strategic locations during game days. They will provide answers to questions and pass out "Detroit Pride" buttons. Volunteers will be stationed at key locations in Foxtown, Greektown, Harmony Park, Campus Martius Park, Detroit People Mover Stations, Marriott at the Renaissance Center and GM World at the Renaissance Center. Experienced volunteers that participated in the Super Bowl festivities have already been secured.

The Bureau will also be available to assist visiting media with tours of the city, and hotel, restaurant and event information.
