In a move that caused Red Hat shares to tumble 3.2% and Novell's to surge by 20% in the same period of trading today, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Microsoft is going to start providing support for SUSE LINUX and that it is working too on Microsoft-Linux interoperability.
The news is due to be broken at a news conference today being given by Steve Ballmer, Chief Executive of Microsoft and Novell's CEO Ron Hovsepian, who in a Guest editorial in the August issue of SYS-CON Media's Enterprise Open Source Magazine wrote: "Linux now provides a viable, enterprise-level platform that works fom the desktop to the data center. Novel...didn't invent Linux and we certainly don't own it."
