Mirth, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:QSII) and a global leader in health information technology, announced today that Mirth® Connect version 3.0.1 is compliant with the ONC 2014 Edition criteria and was certified as an Electronic Health Record (EHR) Module on April 21, 2014 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ACB, in accordance with the applicable Hospital certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The ONC 2014 Edition criteria support both Stage 1 and 2 Meaningful Use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
“Transforming health care requires a fully connected health information framework that adheres to regulatory standards. We view this certification as an essential benchmark in our efforts to continually provide the most innovative, open source interoperability tool in the Health IT market,” said Jon Teichrow, senior vice president of research and development for Mirth. “Achieving modular certification underscores our commitment to helping our clients meet the demands of today’s rapidly evolving health care environment.”
The ONC HIT Certification Program certifies that EHRs meet all of the 2014 Edition criteria and that EHR Modules meet one or more – but not all – of the criteria approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) for hospital technology.
“CCHIT congratulates companies that successfully achieve EHR technology certification,” said Alisa Ray, executive director, CCHIT. “These companies are now able to make their products available to providers wishing to adopt health IT to demonstrate Meaningful Use and earn federal incentives.”
The certification number for Mirth Connect version 3.0.1 is CC-2014-100112-2. The public test report is available here: https://cchit.box.com/s/p9zrawki6ky4oow6e4nk.
ONC HIT certification conferred by CCHIT does not represent an endorsement of the certified EHR technology by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Mirth Connect version 3.0.1 meets the following certification criteria:
170.314(f)(2) Transmission to Immunization Registries; 170.314(f)(3) Transmission to Public Health Agencies - Syndromic Surveillance; 170.314(f)(4) Transmission Of Reportable Laboratory Tests and Values/Results; 170.314(g)(4) Quality Management System.
Other costs that an eligible hospital would pay to implement Mirth Connect version 3.0.1 to attempt to meet Meaningful Use objectives may include but are not limited to: Commercial licensing for customers in need of developer support and additional Enterprise Extensions.
Mirth Connect subscriptions provide a commercial license to run a specified number of instances of Mirth Connect software with the Enterprise Extensions offered for a period of one year. In addition to the license, the subscription includes support through the Mirth Help Desk for installation, configuration and use of Mirth Connect. Support will provide a work-around for any confirmed software bugs and/or expedite a fix. Mirth Connect Enterprise Extensions are available by contacting the Help Desk. Mirth Connect support also provides access to our engineering team to address issues relating to channel (interface) development. Receive design guidance, development troubleshooting assistance, and code samples. Mirth Connect commercial licenses are subject to the Mirth End User License Agreement (Mirth EULA).
With more than 10,000 open source Mirth Connect installations globally, the Mirth product suite includes the Mirth Connect healthcare integration engine, Mirth® Results central data repository and provider portal, Mirth® Match Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI), Mirth® Mail DIRECT secure messaging and provider directory service, and Mirth® Care chronic disease management and care management solutions.
