Morgan Stanley Awards Pivotal the CTO Award for Innovation

Pivotal's Big Data solutions transform Morgan Stanley's business operations and lower firm's total cost of ownership

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/05/14 -- Pivotal, the software company at the intersection of big data, PaaS, and agile development, today announced that it has been awarded Morgan Stanley's prestigious "CTO Award for Innovation". Each year, Morgan Stanley awards its 'CTO Award for Innovation' honoring a technology solution that has been deemed innovative and has made a significant impact on Morgan Stanley's business. The award recognizes the role that Pivotal Greenplum plays within the Morgan Stanley's next generation Big Data platforms for financial reporting and risk management, allowing massive scale while lowering the firm's total cost of ownership.

"Morgan Stanley has been a great partner, and we're honored by this recognition," said Paul Maritz, CEO, Pivotal. "Data is at the heart of how businesses function today. We are proud to partner with Morgan Stanley to help them manage and turn highly complex data into actionable business insights, at scale."

The CTO Summit is an invitation-only event that unites leading venture capitalists, key executives from established and emerging technology companies, and senior technologists from Morgan Stanley's own IT organization for solution briefings, strategic discussions and focused networking.

Pivotal Greenplum Database (Pivotal GPDB) manages, stores and analyzes terabytes to petabytes of data in large-scale analytic data warehouses. Using the purpose-built Pivotal GPDB platform, organizations can experience 10x, 100x or even 1000x better performance over traditional RDBMS products. Pivotal GPDB extracts the data customers need to determine which modern applications will best serve them in context, at the right location, and during the right activities using a shared-nothing, massively parallel processing (MPP) architecture and flexible column- and row-oriented storage. It also leverages fully parallel communication with external databases and Hadoop to continually harness data. Pivotal GPDB is part of the Pivotal Big Data Suite, an annual subscription based software, support, and maintenance package that also bundles Pivotal GemFire, Pivotal SQLFire, Pivotal GemFire XD, Pivotal HAWQ, and Pivotal HD into a flexible pool of big and fast data products for customers.
