"Enterprises are looking for ways to manage open source risk without limiting the significant value that they gain from open source solutions. Organizations are increasingly implementing open source policies that require commercial-grade support, indemnification and maintenance," said Steven Grandchamp, CEO of OpenLogic. "The OpenLogic Enterprise Library Edition reduces the risks of using open source software and provides all of the commercial-grade capabilities that enterprises demand."
The Library Edition will also allow users to integrate with internal systems such as source code repositories and software distribution systems for deployment of certified open source across the enterprise.
"Enterprises succeeding with open source options treat them as equal in functionality and business value to closed source, custom-developed, and proprietary solutions," said Michael Dortch, director of IT infrastructure management strategies at Robert Frances Group (RFG). "With more than 200 certified, indemnified and supported packages, the OpenLogic Enterprise Library Edition helps dramatically reduce risks for enterprise decision-makers seeking to improve time to success, increase choice, and reduce costs with open source."
In addition to the OpenLogic Enterprise Library Edition, OpenLogic also announced today OpenLogic Enterprise 4.2 Standard Edition (see press release), which contains everything in the Library Edition, plus enhanced technical productivity capabilities to let developers assemble, deploy and use open source stacks. OpenLogic Enterprise 4.2 has new enterprise control capabilities that let users audit how open source policies are followed.
