OpenLogic announced an upgrade to OpenLogic Enterprise. The newest version offers a new web-based Manager for updating and auditing open source across the enterprise, opens APIs for integrating with existing infrastructure, and now includes over 200 open source products in the pre-certified library.
"With this version of OpenLogic Enterprise, we continue to make it easier for enterprises to manage all aspects of open source in the enterprise," said Steven Grandchamp, CEO of OpenLogic. "Our customers are excited, because OpenLogic Enterprise allows them to use more open source while still integrating open source into all of their standard processes and systems. Developers get flexibility and choice about what products they use, while enterprises get the peace-of-mind that it can be managed and supported."
With this version of OpenLogic Enterprise, OpenLogic is launching OpenLogic Enterprise Manager -- a central web console to update, manage and audit open source across the enterprise. Large organizations want to leverage open source, but also need to control, monitor, and audit its use to ensure compliance with license terms and governance policies. OpenLogic Enterprise Manager provides a series reports to monitor which open source packages have been installed and where it is deployed.
The newest version of OpenLogic Enterprise offers automated scripting and a new SOAP-based web services interface to help enterprises integrate OpenLogic Enterprise with existing processes and systems.
-- Automated Scripting/Command Line Interface -- Many large enterprises are faced with the task of frequently building, tearing-down, and rebuilding complex software environments that require the installation, configuration, and integration of proprietary, commercial, and open source software. The new command line interface in OpenLogic Enterprise allows for the scripting and automation of common installation, configuration, integration, and uninstall tasks.
-- Web Services Interface -- The new web services interface to OpenLogic Enterprise enables customers to integrate the OpenLogic certified, supported, and indemnified library of open source products with their proprietary systems for installation, procurement, and management of software. The web services interface supports SOAP through the Apache Axis Web Services Framework.
OpenLogic has added more than 40 new open source packages to its certified library, including CruiseControl, Groovy, Subversion and WordPress. OpenLogic performs continual monitoring of open source communities for new versions of open source packages. New versions of more than 100 already certified packages have been added, including Apache Struts, Eclipse, JBoss and MyFaces.
"OpenLogic is seeing tremendous growth in the enterprise because of its unique approach to making open source more consumable," said Andrew Aitken, managing partner of Olliance Group. "Instead of forcing enterprises into fixed stacks, OpenLogic provides a broad management platform that allows enterprises to efficiently deploy, manage and control all of their open source usage."
