Schaefer is CTO and co-founder of Swiss-based Canoo. He has a Masters in Computer Science at University of Linz, a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Zurich. His session, "Stronger than AJAX: Java-Based Swing in a Server-side Web Architecture," will take place on Monday, 19th March on the opening day of the conference.
The application he will be profiling, the Siemens GREAT project - for Guarantee REquest and AccounTing - enables 5000 Siemens professionals located around the world who are handling financial guarantees, an important business at Siemens Financial Services.
Canoo, Schaeffer will show, has delivered an application that supports these professionals in an ideal way by combining the advantages of a Swing-based rich user interface with the advantages of a web application deployed as a Servlet.
