The company figures it's the first true 64-bit, 32-bit backward-compatible turnkey MySQL cluster.
The system also supports Microsoft SQL and IIS.
Polywell said the widgetry is the best affordable alternative to an Oracle/Solaris cluster.
The company's entry-level PolyRaxx 2200B dual-processor cluster nodes are supposed to double the number of nodes and the triple the performance at better price points.
The nodes with 1 gig of memory and dual gigabit Ethernet start at $1,999. The server, with dual Opterons, 4GB of memory, four 10,000rpm RAID-5 hot-swap drives and Linux, starts at $4,999.
