The AJAX Company Backbase announced that its Enterprise AJAX software suite will support Apple's long-anticipated iPhone. Aligning its development with Apple's unfolding strategy for the sexy new device, Backbase has added support for the new platform, including Apple’s Web browser for iPhone, Safari 3, and the code-named Leopard operating system. The Backbase SDK enables developers to bring Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) and rich user interfaces to the iPhone.

Apple officially announced the choice of AJAX as the iPhone SDK at the recent Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco. “Developers and users alike are going to be very surprised and pleased at how great these applications look and work on iPhone,” said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. “Our innovative approach, using Web 2.0-based standards, lets developers create amazing new applications while keeping the iPhone secure and reliable.”
In coming months, Backbase will also deliver Widgets and components designed to take advantage of iPhone specifications.
“As the leader in the AJAX space, we want to make sure that our technology supports new platforms,” said Mark Schiefelbein, VP Research and Development at Backbase. “With Apple selecting AJAX as the only SDK for its iPhone, the decision to support the new platform was an easy one for us.”
“Because of our AJAX dedication and focus, support for the iPhone will reinforce Backbase's technology leadership role in the AJAX space,” said Backbase President and CEO Jouk Pleiter. “It ensures that customers developing websites and Web applications using our technology can fully leverage Apple's iPhone and OSX platforms.”
In addition to its Enterprise AJAX Framework, Backbase provides a set of development tools designed to significantly improve developer productivity. With its recently introduced AJAX 360 service, Backbase is a full solution provider with a comprehensive set of services complementing its software. Customers can rely on Backbase for AJAX-based RIA architecture expertise, AJAX Training, Professional Development Services and Enterprise Premium Support. Backbase also works closely with standards organizations and strategic technology vendors to ensure that enterprises get maximum value from their AJAX investments.
