Rather than sue somebody, something that's become its stock-in-trade, the SCO Group delivered OpenServer Update Pack 2 the other day. It calls it a milestone on the revitalized OpenServer roadmap.

The stuff supports the Universal Serial Bus (USB) and bundles PostgreSQL, ironically the open source object-relational database heavily associated with SCO's great enemy Linux.

SCO said the next rev of the old SCO's Unix operating system, aimed at rekindling a renewed interest in Unix, is code named Legend and is supposed to come out at the end of the year or next year. Legend is supposed to have a new mail server and enhanced Web services support.

SCO's plans include increased security, Windows compatibility, support for the Apache Web server and Mozilla browser and integration with the company's own anticipated SCOx Web services.

A Legend beta is supposed to materialize in late June at SCO Forum.
