InfoVista and Sun Form Collaboration Allowing Customers to Indentify a Path to Virtualization

InfoVista Attains Principal Partner Status in the Sun Partner Advantage Program

InfoVista announced that it is a Principal Partner in the Sun Microsystems Partner Advantage Program for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). InfoVista qualified for this level by meeting Sun's stringent criteria for excellence as a supplier of Solaris Operating System (OS) solutions, and by committing to tight strategic and technical alignment with Sun.

By achieving Principal Partner status, InfoVista joins the community of ISVs that are developing applications for, or porting applications to, the Sun platform. The benefits to Sun customers include access to a broader range of pre-tested, optimized solutions; investment protection and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) through collaborative engineering between Sun and its partners. Customers will also gain a higher level of predictability and support as Sun rolls out its latest technologies and software upgrades.

Already supporting the Solaris 10 OS, InfoVista has integrated its VistaInsight for Servers 3.0 with Sun’s Dynamic Tracing (DTrace) technology. By incorporating precise information about the performance of both systems and applications customers receive an early warning so that performance degradations can proactively be addressed before users are affected.

By integrating with DTrace, VistaInsight for Servers provides real-time correlation between virtualized resources and underlying physical components. This provides data center managers a clear view of server utilization and capacity levels and empowers them to efficiently reassign resources as needed to accommodate changing usage levels. As a result, hardware utilization can be increased through extensive use of virtualization without putting critical applications at risk—delivering maximum return on datacenter investments.

“Sun continues to be one of the leading innovators in our industry and the platform of choice for many of our customers," said Manuel Stopnicki, CTO, InfoVista. "Sun's collaborative business model works well for our company and our customers, and now as a Principal Partner in the Sun Partner Advantage Program we're in a stronger position to leverage Sun's technical resources and expertise to serve our customers."

By achieving this level of certification, this collaboration delivers a superior level of data from servers and applications allowing customers to identify a path to virtualization and in turn, meet service level expectations.

“InfoVista is a natural fit for the Sun Partner Advantage Program and we congratulate them on their new Principal Partner status,” said Julius Lukacs, Senior Director Market Development for Sun. “InfoVista’s VistaInsight for Servers 3.0 product, combined with the innovative virtualization and manageability capabilities of the Solaris 10 OS, ensures the success of data center virtualization initiatives for our shared customers.”
