Array Networks Builds On Green Credentials with New Virtualization Release

Array Networks Introduces Energy-Efficient Universal Access Controller for Securing and Extending Access to Applications

Array Networks announced its new SPX 4800 Universal Access Controller (UAC) which uses a maximum of 122 Watts of power to support up to 12,000 concurrent users. The energy efficient SPX 4800 UAC requires only one rack unit of space and consumes 0.01 watt of power per user at maximum use. This not only reduces power consumption and space costs by an order of magnitude as compared to other solutions on the market, but it also positively impacts customers’ environmental initiatives.

Array’s SPX 4800 UAC is a single system that provides unifying framework across different access methods using one platform. AccessDirect secure remote access, SiteDirect site-to-site access, DesktopDirect remote desktop access and WiFiProtect wireless LAN security software modules enabled with Built-In NAC capabilities are currently available for the SPX 4800. This eliminates costly stovepipe security deployments for wireless, local, remote and third-party access, thereby increasing security, compliance and productivity. It also provides identity-based access control for all users whether local or remote, fixed or wireless. Moreover, companies can simply upgrade different access software without expensive and disruptive device deployment required by alternative NAC, wireless and remote access solutions.

Building on its green credentials, the SPX 4800 UAC’s virtualization capability features up to 256 virtual communities of interest on a single system, each segmented and separated from each other, eliminating the need to purchase and power multiple systems for employees, partners, and customers. Each community is independently manageable with its own security policies, administrators and own unique look and feel. When guests require network access, they have their own web portals with secure and limited access to the Internet and not the enterprise network; while employees get access to the enterprise network and contractors get limited access to controlled resources on the internal network.

The SPX 4800 UAC not only assures endpoint access security but also enhances network performance and efficiency. If corporate policy dictates that guest users are only provided Internet access without additional encryption, the SPX 4800 UAC is able to recognize their identity and selectively provide an unencrypted path while maintaining access control and accountability over the traffic. The SPX 4800 UAC also enhances network efficiency by supporting N+1 clusters with built-in load balancing.
