Jay Litkey, CEO of Embotics Corporation, will be presenting at SYS-CON's 5th International Virtualization Conference & Expo in New York City this coming March 30-April 1, 2009. Litkey, who before starting Embotics founded Symbium, a venture capital funded company focused on Autonomic Computing and the automated management of IT infrastructure, will be looking at compliance issues in what he calls The New Age of Virtualization.
"Virtualization technology enables greater agility and business benefits, but changes everything, including a company’s compliance and audit processes," declares Litkey.
"Virtual servers are hard to identify and track so gathering evidence of compliance is much more laborious and raw editing efforts increase significantly. Everything known about ensuring physical server compliance, such as configuration, access control and security is still relevant and needs to be adjusted to fit in the virtual server space," he continues.
His session in NYC will look at compliance controls that do not work when copying, moving and consolidating servers and data centers. "The key to success is the ability to maintain compliance," Litkey notes.

5th International Virtualization Conference & Expo - New York City - March 30-April 1, 2009
Virtualization is reorganizing the IT industry. It underpins cloud computing by making it possible to separate the software from the hardware.Overall, the virtualization market has grown from approximately $560 million in 2005 to a forecasted $2.7 billion in 2009, according to IDC. According to Gartner, virtualization will be the highest-impact IT trend changing infrastructure and operations through 2012.
While data center virtualization is still the #1 market segment, it’s starting to get competition from application virtualization, storage virtualization, I/O virtualization and virtualization for end users - so called endpoint virtualization. In fact, in almost any credible survey of Top Technology Trends for 2009, Virtualization and Cloud Computing top the list. In Gartner's Top 10 Strategic Technologies for 2009, it ranked #1, up from #5 last year.
