BoF Session on Cloud Computing API at Open Grid Forum 25

Towards a Standard API for IaaS Clouds

A BoF ("birds of a feather") session on Cloud Computing API was organized at Open Grid Forum 25 in Catania (Italy). The session focused on the charter and the creation of a Group inside OGF to work on the development of an API specification for the dynamic deployment, using an appropriate descriptor language, control and monitor of virtual machines. The scope of the specification will be all the high level functionality required for the life-cycle management of virtual machines which is needed to support automated service elasticity. The new specification will facilitate the integration of the service management components that are being built on top of cloud infrastructures.

The agenda included presentations from relevant players in the cloud ecosystem. An audio recording is also available. OGF has created a new mailing list to discuss engagement and next steps.

Ignacio M. He founded and co-chaired the Open Grid Forum Working Group on Open Cloud Computing Interface. Prof. Llorente has given many keynotes and invited talks in the main international events in cloud computing, and has contributed to several cloud computing panels and roadmaps.
