BELLEVUE, Wash., April 14, 2009 – Likewise Software today announced its participation as one of 9 founding members of the Open Source Channel Alliance -- a consortium of open source independent software vendors led by Red Hat that will deliver open source technologies to a large base of value-added resellers and system integrators through a distribution agreement with SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE: SNX).
SYNNEX has agreed to distribute the Likewise authentication software, along with a variety of other open source applications, in addition to Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss Enterprise Middleware. The applications that are part of the Open Source Channel Alliance will be available immediately for distribution through SYNNEX' extensive network of more than 15,000 resellers.
A leader in open source authentication and auditing for mixed networks, Likewise integrates Linux, Unix, and Mac systems with Microsoft Active Directory to provide a single, secure framework for authentication and access control. Likewise Open lets large organizations securely authenticate Linux, Unix, and Mac systems with Microsoft Active Directory, while Likewise Enterprise includes all the core authentication technology that comes with Likewise Open plus world-class modules for migration, group policy, auditing, and reporting.
“Likewise provides Red Hat customers a powerful solution to reduce the costs and complexity of running Linux and Windows in the same environment,” said Barry Crist, CEO of Likewise Software. "This alliance with Red Hat and SYNNEX adds significant distribution capacity for Likewise and will complement our already strong momentum on the Red Hat platform.”
