It is now only 3 days until the most watched and waited for technical event of 2009... Apple's sold-out Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). WWDC 2009 is billed as the premier technical event for developers and IT professionals innovating with Apple platforms and I will not disagree with that. Especially as from June 8 until June 12, there will be 5 days where 5000 attendees will meet with and listen to 1000 Apple engineers.
One thing we know for sure is that Steve Jobs will not be there but the rest will be speculation until the many Reporters, Bloggers and Twitter users start to report back. Check out my previous article here. Whatever happens will be sure to draw comment & discussion at SYS-CON's iPhone Developer Summit, that follows in New York, on June 22-23.
For those with tickets, bags should be packed, MacBooks should be charged and iPhones should be ready for the trip to San Francisco's Moscone West. If you have never been to San Francisco, you are going to love it! The weather, the people & the city rocks! Moscone West is a great location and its architecture suitably complements Apple's aurora. If you're like me, you either will plan out what you are packing or will check again and again. One thing not to forget are your sneakers/trainers as you're going to be walking many miles over next week.
If you have not done so already, plan what you want to see. Take it from me that, blink and these conferences are over! Look out for Special Events as well as impromptu meetups, they really are fun and a great way to relax, at the end of a long day.
Speak to your peers, be polite & welcoming, you can really make some important contacts at these events, even friendships that continue through e-mail exchange and can be renewed at future events. You may be lucky to be attending with a few friends or colleagues, others may not have that benefit. So speaking to other folks just may make their conference come to life, be open to folks wanting to be a 'show-buddy'. Exchange thoughts & opinions and be open to those of others, you may be surprised to having your 'eyes opened' to new and innovative ways of thinking about things.
If you want to meet other folks from your country, think about sticking a small flag on your badge, that always draws comments. Also check out notice boards, where some folks may post country get togethers.
Safe travels to everyone that is attending and enjoy... I'm envious ;-)
