Olocity Corporation is dedicated to delivering open
standards based management solutions, products, and services and has acquired
the StorageIM open source storage network management platform which will be integrated into
its offerings.
StorageIM is an open source management console for storage networks
designed with the CIM and SMI-S industry standards as its architectural core.
As a result StorageIM easily supports HBAs, arrays, switches, and tape
libraries across vendors' products with a high degree of interoperability and
reliability. Thanks to its standards based design, StorageIM has already
successfully integrated with many vendors' storage networking products.
"This announcement demonstrates that the dauntless work
of standards bodies like the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) and
Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) as well as related open source efforts
like Pegasus are paying off for IT consumers," said John Webster of Illuminata.
"The StorageIM vision evolves the storage management landscape enabling
the storage community to more effectively deliver powerful and flexible
multi-vendor solutions."
"The StorageIM acquisition provides Olocity with a highly
scalable and extensible architecture that is a foundation for the development
of future standards based products as well as enterprise class integration infrastructures
and compliance testing tools," said Kurt Krems the Architect of StorageIM.
"The development philosophy behind StorageIM is to fully support the open
source community and as such it is built around popular infrastructures like
Struts, Quartz, and Spring. StorageIM is a nucleus for collaboration and
innovation for both the IT consumers and vendors."
"The xIM architecture within StorageIM provides a
powerfully efficient platform for the rapid deployment of future Olocity
products and supporting services. Olocity intends to extend xIM to support
emerging standards for server management, virtualization, and system health
management," said Roger Reich the President and CEO of Olocity. "Mr.
Krems is the visionary behind StorageIM, we are thrilled to have him joining
Olocity as our chief of development."
