AccuRev Selected by Mediasurface to Enhance Feature Driven Development (FDD)
Managing the Software Release Process Across Geographies as a Single Seamless Team

AccuRev announced that Mediasurface standardized on AccuRev for process-centric software change and configuration management (SCCM). As a result, development teams in the United Kingdom and Bangalore, India now work as a set of integrated teams for managing Feature Driven Development, its agile approach to manage the software release process.

Mediasurface had been using another SCCM solution that wouldn't allow them to integrate the new Bangalore team the way they wanted to work. Developers complained that even though they were working with an enterprise SCCM system, they were still required to run scripts to accomplish their tasks. They also didn't like the fact they had to check out items before knowing exactly which changes they wanted to make before committing them to the repository.

An open source version control solution was selected as a stop-gap alternative for a new project but it proved "clunky," when considered with all the necessary plug-ins and third party add-ons required to make it work in their environment. As a result, AccuRev was evaluated against the same set of criteria that included requirements for offshore collaboration, parallel development and the ability to enforce a well-defined and successful Feature Driven agile software development process.

Tahir Hussein, Engineering Manager, Mediasurface, said, "Fully integrating the Bangalore and UK operations was a critical requirement for the business. As the Bangalore team was new to our business and our software, the solution had to be easy to implement, learn and use, but still powerful enough to manage our software release process. AccuRev has quickly delivered a very elegant way to automate our Feature Driven agile development process so that both feature enhancements and issues from existing customers permeate into previous versions running in parallel. Our Bangalore team now works with our UK engineers as if a single seamless team."
