Regression testing in initial iterations is manageable manually. However, as the number of test cases increases, the effort, time and complexity for the testing team increases proportionally. To understand this, let’s assume the task is to support a website on three browsers – Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Safari on three platforms – Windows, Linux and Macintosh.
If there are N numbers of test cases, then we need to execute 5N number of tests. Imagine when N becomes 500 or more. To overcome this complexity, automated testing offers a convenient solution and ensures that the code that is being developed or maintained works.
