PIP is a a single sign in solution that supports both OpenID (you are issued a Verisign OpenID) and direct sign in to a number of supported websites. If a site doesn’t support OpenID, login is handled by populating the Aug. 20, 2008 10:41 PM | Click image to see Cranky Geeks.

Prior to Flash Player 10, in order to read or write a file to the user’s system, Flash content would first have to bounce it off of a server, and then load it back to the users system before it could be accessed. This was not only a hassle to program, but added additional application latency and resource usage.

Aug. 20, 2008 12:00 PM | Good morning everybody!
This is Dave coming to you from Salt Lake City, UT.
I'm on my Summer 2008 road trip. Started yesterday at 4AM, and got me into SLC at about 4PM.
Stops include Laramie, WY; Boulder CO and on to Denver on Sunday for the Democratic National Convention. Then four days of watching, listening, talking, and thinking and then back on the road to do it all again!
I tried to set up a LAN in my car, to no avail. There isn't much Sprint EVDO on the road between Reno and Salt Lake. Aug. 20, 2008 06:02 AM | My colleague, Paul, got lots of… let’s call it, “feedback” regarding his post on the impending demise of the standalone Business Rule Engine (BRE) Market. It seems there are lots of folks out there who feel quite passionate about the subject, so I thought I would continue, albeit from a different angle and relate it back to the CEP and BusinessEvents for comparison.
So… taking my cue from David Letterman and with a tip o’ the hat to Paul, here are the:

I went to an esteemed (so they tell me) computer science school, or at least that's what they tell me. I've worked for every kind of software shop: the Big 6 (now 4) consultancies, a couple of startups, and even 'the Big O' (yes, Oracle). So I thought I was familiar with most techniques, theories and approaches to software development. Well, it seems I missed one.About 8 weeks ago Deepak Alur, JackBe's ever-vigilant VP of Development, sent me Aug. 18, 2008 10:49 AM | Tomorrow, I'll be speaking in New York City at Enterprise Flex symposium. Though I’d heard of Bruce during the rise of cyberpunk, I was never all that aware of him until I attended South by Southwest Interactive in 1999. He was a legendary presence at the event, both providing the final thoughts to the attendees, and hosting a rocking party at his house.
I had the fortune of Bruce speaking at another event of mine, IDEA 2006, where he did a remarkable job of summarizing the pr Aug. 16, 2008 06:19 PM | The second International Conference on Object Databases (ICOODB) will take place at ETH Zurich (Switzerland), on July 1-3, 2009.The ICOODB 2009 Conference Chair is Moira C.
